Herpes genitalis is caused by herpes simplex virus 1 or 2.
The symptoms are grouped vesicles (water filled lesions) in the area of contact. They may be associated with pain or burning sensation. There may be fever and weakness.
They are known for recurrence.

Usually transmitted as STDs. Also can be transmitted by skin to skin contact or kiss.

Some may be asymptomatic.
