What Are Symptoms Of Brain Damage After A Head Injury?

Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: Hi,

About an hour ago I was stopped at red light waiting to turn, I turned left and when I turned my visor bumped into upper left side of my head from about 2 inches away.

Didn't hurt but of course visited Dr. Google.

Would something like this be something to be concerned about? No symptons, knock on wood, but am paranoid about ihead njuries.

but my fiance says this doesn't even constitute an injury and I'm being paranoid. any help, please :-)

Brief Answer:
No brain injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello! I read your question carefully and I am sorry about the distress you are experiencing.

Judging from your description of the hit, the close distance and the supposed impact scale, I would say that you shouldn't worry too much, that type of hit won't cause any damage to your brain. At most there will be some skin bruising which will be eliminated gradually.

Of course if any symptoms appear (confusion, seizures, double vision, weakness of the limbs on one side, very intense headache) feel free to write again, but I don't think that will be the case.

I remain at your disposal for further questions.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I tend to get wigged out when something hits my head.

My reg doc says that the human head it tougher than we think. Try to tell myself that when stupid stuff happens.

Then you google and bamm...scared out of my mind. lol

Read below.

Detailed Answer:
Haha, I totally understand, google-ing can result in some scary stuff...but that sort of trauma you had is really minor, I am sure if you read calmly without panicking right away you'd find that out even on google.
Just think of the many falls and bumps on the head everyone of us has as a baby/kid without any consequences, and now your skull is even tougher as your doctor says. So no worry.

Wishing you good health.
