Question: I have osteoporosis in my lower back, arthritis in both my knees, osteopenia in both hips, I had knee surgery in Sept. I have brittle bones. What over the counter medicine is the best to take for my pain. Currently I am taking Tylenol 3 for pain. My doctors are weening me off of them.

Brief Answer:
Vitamin D supplementation is mandatory

Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam

I can certainly understand your concern

I have worked through your query in detail

By all means you require a combination of vitamin D and calcium supplementation.

Additionally it's important to monitor your bone Mineral density and vitamin D levels to incorporate certain helpful medications called Bisphosphonates.

OTC preparations containing Cholecalciferol, Calcium and soy isoflavones are useful in your case. Vitamin D3 50K is one such preparation available OTC. Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these medications to you.

Are you satisfied with my consultation ? Is there anything else left to be discussed ?
