What Could Cause Blood In Urine And Mild Back Pain?
Question: Was lifting heavy logs and blood in urine day to 2 days later. Has happened before with strenuous activity and no hydration. This time is different. Blood in urine will not abate. Three weeks now and passing clots. No pain however now with mild back pain. Hydrating regularly and have been off of lifting etc. bed rest and keeping relitively quiet. Still bleeding but maybe a little less.

Bleeding through urine after strenuous exercise is mostly seen after over strenuous exercise.. which causes exertion to kidney tissue to allow blood to leàk out in urine.Such bleeding without any other obvious cause stops automatically within 2-3 days maximum without treatment with just rest and avoidance of strenuous work/exercise.
The fact that it has recurred and is not stopping after a long period of rest, hydration &avoiding work out......makes it mandatory to find the cause &treat it with expert advice.
* The possible cause exaggerating the response could be-
- more degree of stress &strenuous exercise.
-possible renal tissue weakness/pathology after the first incidence
- bleeding tendency due to RBC problems.To cause frequent bleeding /blood clotting problems/it problems like diverticulitis,
- bladder problems, stones, kidney infections (subacute)
- prostate hyperplasia,
- tumor in few cases.
* Though previous experience has taught you to have self-care in such an event and you know and following it correctly, I would advise consultation of a Nephrologist for evaluation of degree and cause of the bleedig.....pin point the cause and advise cause-specific treatment earliest....(after maximum 3 days of home care(even bleeding stops).
