Brief Answer:
A thorough health check-up is needed at first...

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service...
I've gone through your query...

Well, at this outset, before proceeding for a solution, it's important to find out the exact cause/diagnosis...

A lot of times, loss of hair is due to a genetic cause (if it runs in your family, then it can be one of the causes)...However, there are a number of other causes as well...

Excessive hardness in daily bathing water is one of the most frequent causes. Checking and changing the water is recommended in that scenario.

Dandruff itself can be the cause of frequent hair fall. If that's the case, then a Ketoconazole and Salicylic acid-based shampoo (e.g Phytoral-SP shampoo) can be used every alternate day. Keep the hair dry, avoid any form of moisture/dampness over the scalp.

If those aren't the case, then it's recommended to undergo a full-body check-up at first under the supervision of an Internal Medicine specialist (esp. if you haven't visited the Doctor for a long time). Along with this, the doctor may also advise thorough sets of investigations including CBC, ESR, LFT, KFT, Blood sugar levels, Vit D3 levels, Thyroid function test to look into it in detail...

Management can be done based on the findings. So, just visit the Internal Medicine specialist at first for the clinical check-up followed by the thorough sets of investigations as already explained.

Take Care
Kind Regards

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your reply amid this busy situation.
I definitely would have consulted with a specialist, took the health check up, if the corona scare is not there outside. Since situation outside is not cool and as I nearly lost 70% of hair in last 1 to 2 months, I'm so worried that I try to get online consultation.

Regarding genetic cause, there is no history of such hair loss.
And I had my thyroid and pcos tests done and I have no such problems.
Also I had my vitD3 tested a year back and it was above average. I took vitD3 tablets too before 2 months, just to be sure levels didn drop as I wasn't getting enough sunlight.

Water here is real hard for which I am unable to find any alternative. I don't have much dandruff but a recent problem I have is , scalp kind of comes out as some patchy white, powdery flakes which also cause mild itchiness.
I apply tenovate cream as my mom used it based on doctor advice long back. But I don't see any results yet after 2, 3 weeks of use.
Apart from this I oil my hair too regularly,(coconut or gingely or onion hair oil)
But I see hairfall after oiling too. Tried shampoo without sulphates also tried using Shikaikai. But no use.

Hence decided to take some support here as I dont know what exactly is going wrong.
I do understand clinical check up is necessary here, but I refrain going out for now due to the situation.

Also afraid not to loose remaining hair too, hence writing back.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Follow-up consultation...

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,

It's important to know the cause of the hair fall as management varies accordingly...can only be ascertained after a thorough clinical check-up as well as investigations as already explained earlier...over the counter lotions and creams can only be effective to some extent...

Since it's persisting, you may even need to start even oral antifungals (prescription based medications to be taken after proper supervision of the treating dermatologist)...You have already used a lot of over the counter products, further unsupervised intake can cause more harm than benefit...

A lot of OPDs are reopened and running with proper protection, you can simply get the appointment done online as well...meanwhile, keep the hair dry, avoid aggressive combing as well as oil on the affected part till a proper diagnosis is made...

As far as the hardness of the water is concerned, if you can't find an alternative, TDS meter with Carbon filters and sediment filters can be installed at the washroom as a bathwater purifier...

Take Care
Kind Regards
