Using Contraceptive Implant. Missing Period. Feeling Bloated, Cramps And Back Pain. Pregnant?

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Apr 2013
Question: Hi, I am 37, and have had a contraceptive implant for about 1 year. For the first 3 months I had no period, then it slowly began to get regular. I now feel that I am overdue, although I have had back pains, cramps and the feeling of bloatedness for the past week. My body doesn't feel quite right. Is there a possibility that I might be pregnant?

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Implants are 97-98% effective in preventing a pregnancy.

It is usual to have irregular spotting or no periods at all for few months with an implant. The missing of periods this month is not likely to be related to pregnancy.

Still it is best to confirm this by getting a urine test done using a highly sensitive kit available over the counter at all the pharmacies.

In case the test comes negative then there is no need to worry. You will get your periods next month.

Hope this answers your query. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.

Wishing you good health.
