default

Question: Transplanted kidney. 5 years out. Urine test came back 30 today but all other levels are within range. I did eat steak, egg, chicken & beans the day before the test. Is this a concern?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Urea comes from proteins degradation and can be increased after high protein diet. So your last meals could affect this result. If the creatine level is in range, most likely your kidney works fine. However it is advisable to have this test repeated avoiding proteins day before.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
