Question: Tell me please...how effective is a PTA of the Iliac arteries, how long does it last? I have PAD also in both legs...I would imagine that both Iliac and femoral arteries will have the procedure....how safe is this and will it last?

Brief Answer:
It’s a safe procedure

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir

After reviewing the details provided by you I would first of all like to tell you that it’s basically “Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty” in which a stent is placed inside the vessel where there is significant narrowing and then that stent is opened with the help of controlled pressure application.

It’s usually a safe procedure as it is performed by well trained experts.

Prognosis or longevity of the procedure is a different aspect and it depends upon several factors the important ones being the lifestyle routine of the patient and associated other medical comorbidities like diabetes.

Hope to have been helpful.

Kind Regards

My lifestyle routine is as follows:

Walk 4 X per week for 40 mins. each time;
Blood pressure at rest = 123/58
Pulse at rest = 56
LDL = 53 mgL
O2 saturation = 98%
Eat no beef = lots of berries, ghia seends, nuts, fruit, veggies, fish, lean pork and chicken plus plant-based stuff - lentils, chic peas, etc...plus yogurt
I meditate daily for one hour
CRP is under 5.0
take garlic, spirulina , ALA, K2 + Vt. D, Vt. C, B and E, Turmeric, COQ10, Omega 3s every day plus baby aspirin, Crestor, Amlodipine, Olmetec...

Now, what do you say please?

Brief Answer:
HelloAgain

Detailed Answer:
First of all my apologies for the delayed response.

Am seriously amazed to know that you are following such a lifestyle routine because we as doctors hardly come across such patients who follow this type of healthy routine.

Such a healthy routine will surely help you counter atherosclerotic changes and will significantly improve the outcomes of your upcoming procedures.

And above all as you have mentioned that you are not a diabetic will further improve outcomes.

So just relax and keep maintaining your routine. My best wishes.

Kind Regards
