Brief Answer:
Should rule out hepatitis and following causes first...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

SGOT and SGPT are liver enzymes, indicating the actual damages or injuries to your liver due to other diseases/conditions. If raised, we should go further to determine and understand what the cause is.

There are various factors causing liver enzymes (SGOT and SGPT) to raise including:
- fatty liver
- drinking alcohol
- hepatitis
- drugs

Although your liver enzymes are elevated, they are not at that extent to worry about. If hepatitis testing are ok, and if you do drink alcohol, I advise my patients to run abdominal ultrasound. If everything is ok, then I recommend to:
- avoid drinking alcohol
- eat healthy
- stop any med that are taking on regular basis (unless chronic illness)
- be more physically active
- continue taking milk thistle

and repeat liver function test after 6 weeks of implementing such changes.

Hope it was of help!
