Question: I want to quit smoking for good. Have tried everything and failed. Is there professional help available to help me quit smoking?

Thank You Doc for your prompt answer. Please find my answers below :-

1. I have been actively smoking for 8 years
2. Currently i smoke around 7 cigarettes a day on working days and around 3-4 during weekends
3. Nicotine gums are effective for a day or two but i go back to smoking as my craving isn't satisfied
4. E-ciggs were not effective atall and also left a soar throat

Additionally would like to add that i smoke more on work days than holidays and even when i smoke less do not have any withdrawal symptoms, I guess its more psychological and i smoke more out of compulsion than anything else.

Looking at your description you can't be labelled as addicted
You can very easily quit it
Have a strong dedication and self motivation to abstain it.

Whenever you have an urge to smoke, speak to some of your friend or family members or anybody at your workplace

Keep good games or music in your smartphone or laptop
You can listen music round play games
Don't keep the cigarettes with you
Spend quality time with family and friends
Deep breathing exercises during the urge will definitely help you
This is the time you can really quit smoking
