Question: After having a talk with his Mom, XXXXXXX has changed his habits and started taking a long walk after school and has limited his sweets. Consequently, he has lost nine pounds according to his last dr. visit. Does this mean that if he continues on this path, that he can avoid getting diabetes? But he continues with only eating a few things, like pizza, chicken nuggets, peanut butter sandwiches, and Luna bars.he hasfoop sensory issues. Also, since he is at the shore for the summer, his physical activities are greater, i.e.., bike riding beach, walking etc.

Brief Answer:
Good progress!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is good news and he's making the right decisions. In addition to increase physical activity and exercise, he should also eat right. The fast food is not always good. He should increase portions of vegetables and fibers in his diet. Diet, active lifestyle and regular physical exercise will get him there faster. These are also the best ways to prevent diabetes. Should he continue on this path, the chances of having diabetes would be greatly reduced.

I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.
