Suggest Ways To Manage Pain When Diagnosed With Diabetic Neuropathy

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Oct 2015
Question: I have had diabetic neuropathy for several years. I have been able to manage it fairly well taking the vitamins NerveRenew purchased through the internet. It is costly, but so far it seems to help. My new doctor just prescribe red Mentax and the pharmacy gave me Foltanx. I am trying to figure if they are the same and if it will do the same thing as my NerveRenew. The cost is much lower, but I can not handle the pain. My A1C is getting better, while it is7.3, I hope to get it lower with a new insulin plan.

Brief Answer:
Diabetic neuropathy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

Tab NerveRenew contains Vitamin B1 (Thiamin), B12 (Methylcobalamine), R- Alpha Lipoic Acid.

Tab Mentax & Foltanx both contain Vitamin B12 (Mecobalamin), Folic acid (Leomefolate Calcium & Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxal Phosphate). That is both have same effect.

In general Vitamin B12, B6, B1, Folic acid are nutritional supplements that have role in treatment of neuropathy but for diabetic neuropathy Vitamin B12 is more important.

Also Alpha Lipoic acid is a nutritional supplement which has antioxidant property.

Every individual has different response to different nutritional supplements, that's why you may have difference in effect with their use .

Specifically for diabetic painful neuropathy drugs like Amitriptyline, Duloxetine can be more effective, you should discuss it with your treating diabetologist.

Along with these medicines following things are more important -
- Blood sugar control.
- Blood pressure control.
- Lipid control.
- Avoiding smoking, alcohol.

Hope this helps you.
