I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that there are several ways to lower your blood pressure values:

a- Natural ways:

- a healthy diet with low salt and caffeine intake (Mediterranean Diet would be recommended)
- a lot of physical activity (walking, Yoga, recreational sporsts, etc.)
- reduce your weight if you are overweight
- avoid smoking and alcohol intake
- avoid emotional stress and stressful situations
- avoid straining physical activity.

b- If the natural ways do not work, anti-hypertensive drugs would be the next step to consider.

There are different anti-hypertensive drugs (calcium channel blockers, ARB, ACEI, diuretics, etc.). The treatment choice is based on blood pressure values and individual characteristics (blood lab tests) and tolerance.

Some tests (chest X ray study, cardiac ultrasound, complete blood count, fasting glucose, kidney and liver function tests, blood electrolytes, thyroid hormone levels, PCR and ESR, etc.) are needed to investigate for possible causes of secondary hypertension.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
