Detailed Answer:

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern about an optimal blood pressure control, I would explain as follows:

As you have a high normal BP level, it is necessary to optimize your clinical conditions and prevent responsible factors from adversely influencing your blood pressure values.

Medications are not recommended with such BP level, and several natural steps are recommended for improving it.

A healthy diet would increase the chances for improving BP control. As a general rule, a diet low in saturated fat and high in complex carbohydrate is recommended.

Such a diet includes whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, fish, soy products, onions, garlic, foods rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium (carrots, spinach, celery, alfalfa, mushrooms, lima beans, potatoes, avocados, broccoli, and most fruits), and restricts salt.

A healthy life-style is helpful to control better BP values. You need t\o avoid close smoking contacts, avoid insufficient sleep, find better ways for stress management and relaxation.

Regular physical exertion would help substantially in BP lowering. I strongly encourage you for daily workouts.

Several supplements may help to maintain an optimal BP level, such as: omega 3 fatty acids, minerals like potassium and magnesium, amino acids like L-arginine and Taurine, etc. vitamins C and E, etc.

All the above measures will further optimize your body weight; improve vascular endothelial function, smooth muscle relaxation, etc. leading to an appropriate BP control.

You need to discuss with your attending physician (GP or internist) to build a strategy for properly combining the above mentioned measures and yielding maximal benefits.

Hope to have been helpful!

At the age of 26 should this be a worrying concern to have a high normal blood pressure right now?
