Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
First, yes you can take Liv52.
Why you wish to receive it , I am not sure.
Won't benefit diabetes.
Second , I would recommend against gaining weight.
Low weight helps keeps the sugar I'm control.
So I won't suggest that you try.
in diabetics , doctors tell them to loose weight.
Still , if you intend to gain weight, I would not suggest tablets - too many side effects.
So of you want to gain weight, do it the healthy way- hit the gym, and gain muscle mass.

Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

Thank you Doctor Mittal. Question about Liv 52 was just b'se of general well being of liver. So you think I can take Liv52, then how long should I take it one go?

Secondly, I understand your point about weight gain medicine side effects, I don't want to take them for ever just to help me gain some weight in a month or two. I am pretty active and do walk/gym at least 5 days a week. So let me know if you can suggest something, specially on weight gain. Thank you once again.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your message.
If you are just taking it for protection, there's really no harm. It's just that I don't usually recommend taking extra tablets in my patients. That's for Liv 52.
As for weight, Have you checked into other causes of weight loss. Like controlled sugars ( don't know FBS, PPBS), thyroid etc?
Also I suggest trying high fat diet if you are looking for a short term programme only.

Best of luck. Dr Mittal

Thank you Dr. Mittal. My FBS is in fluctuates between 98-115 range and PPBS (I check it 90 mins after dinner) is in the 150 range. Earlier it was in the 130-135 range FBS and went up to 200 after dinner. But switching over to low carb high fat diet has helped as the sugar levels as above show. I will do the thyroid test but I suspect it is primarily b'se of blood sugar. Earlier the medication that I was taking was Volibo 0.3 with breakfast and glycomet SR500 1/2 a pill at dinner. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Suggest urine glucose and protein

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read your response.
I would suggest testing urine sugar and microalbumin.
This is important in diabetics who may be causing the weight loss.
Best of luck.
Dr Mittal.
