Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your blood pressure values are above the normal ranges this morning.

But, a single high blood pressure does not necessarily indicate uncontrolled hypertension. It could be related to different causes like coffee intake, lack of sleep, physical activity or psychological stress.

That is why I would recommend you to closely monitor your blood pressure values in the next days, different times during the day (in sitting position after 10 minutes of total relax) and write those values down.

If your blood pressure values in the next days are most of the time above the normal ranges (140/90 mm Hg), I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:

- a chest X ray study
- complete blood count
- PCR, ESR
- blood electrolytes
- kidney and liver function tests.

If all these tests result normal(other causes of secondary hypertension are excluded) you should discuss with your doctor on the possibility of making some changes to your actual therapy (increase the doses or add a new anti-hypertensive drug), in order to have a better control on your blood pressure.

Meanwhile, I recommend having some rest and avoiding coffee or straining physical activity until your blood pressure is low again.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
