Suggest Ways To Build Healthy Bones Other Than Bone Stimulating

Question: had a laminecomy and L4-5 spinal fusion with 2 rods/4 screws 13 months ago. No bone growth even though I am on my 2nd bone stimulator (only lasts 9 months), and started forteo 9 months ago due to a T-score of 2.4. Fortunately, my hardware has not failed. Still on 10# lifting restriction, little to no bending and still in the $450 back brace. PT has started and stopped many times - every time we try to trigger the back muscles, sciatica gets really bad.
My surgeon does not want to rush me back to surgery (nor do I). I had a gastric bypass 12 years ago, so I'm very good about supplementing vitamins, minerals and eating a high protein diet. I walk 2.5-4 miles a day. I get weekly massages and weekly acupuncture.
What else can I do to grow bone? what alternatives do I have?

Brief Answer:
Take calcium and Vitamin D3 supplements.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
You have already tried bone stimulator for 10 months. To make your bones grow faster, dietary modifications and some lifestyle changes do play an important role.
1. You need to abstain from alcohol and smoking, avoid caffeine - tea, coffee, colas. Take calcium and vitamin D3 supplements as prescribed by your orthopedician.
2. You need to give adequate rest and immobilization of the affected part. Continue using the brace. Constant movement causes mild displacement thus delaying the healing.
3. The foods you need to take include yogurt, milk, dry fruits- dates & almonds, apples, soybean, broccoli, red grapes, peanuts, oatmeal and sesame seeds.
4. Lysine, Boron, Zinc, Vitamin C and Vitamin K supplements do also play a major role in bone healing along with calcium and Vitamin D3. You can add a multimineral supplement to your daily routine.
You are already taking care of most of these measures. It takes more time in bone healing and growth in case of osteoporosis.
I hope this answers your query.
