Suggest Trteatment For Intestinal Threadworm

Question: I have threadworms/pinworms. I know this because I have assessed my stool and been able to identify a few females.I can feel a wiggling near my anus a couple times and I have a bit of an itch. Not nearly bad of symptoms as I have heard of before.

I am a bit of a hypochondriac so I need a few questions answered.

Can I get rid of threadworms completely or are they with me for life?

I washed my sheets after taking Pyrantel Pamoate today and disinfected door handles, counter tops, removed dust etc. Is this enough? Is inhaling the eggs a rare occurrence?

I believe I have washed my hands so much that they have almost turned raw. Please help as I am looking for the necessary steps to get rid of this pest and on with life. Anything you feel I need to know the hard truth, etc. Please advise.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Few steps to avoid worm infestation

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Threadworms or infact any worm infestation of the intestine is easily treatable. Along with pyrantel pamaoate, I also start a single tablet of albendazole 400 mg which is repeated again 2 weeks later. It gets rid of all the worms.

Inhalation of eggs is known as this leads to worm infestation of the lungs; however this is a very rare occurrence.

Apart from clearing door handles, keeping hands and nail clean I would like to enlighten a few points
1. Avoid eating salads in restaurants
2. Eat only fully cooked food
3. Cleaning the greens with potassium permanganate and then throughly with water will make sure all eggs are cleared
4. Make sure that animal meat is fully cooked before eating
5. Use gloves if you are into farming or gardening

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Regards
