Brief Answer:
maybe he needs a break

Detailed Answer:
It seems he is not tolerating this chemo too well. He needs a break to get his system on track and then again chemo later. Meanwhile CT scans to track disease response.

He's had 3 round so far .

They are giving fluids I think it's cuz he does not drink enough at home . Could that be why ?

Any way , his cea was 65 before oxyplatin and raltitrexed . After 1 round -80 and after 2 round 55. What can this mean I'm confussed as it was 80

Brief Answer:
Can happen sometimes

Detailed Answer:
Sometimes CEA increases after first cycle due to cell kill, after that it comes down slowly. Probably this has happened with him.

They are giving fluids because the BP is low. Oral intake at home may be low because of nausea, reduced appetite and fatigue due to chemo. This would improve gradually.

Brief Answer:
we have to take a call

Detailed Answer:
The balance between chemo side effects and efficacy is very important. That's why I mentioned that after sometime if he is fine we can restart again.

I just wanted to ask lastly that if chemo
Works what is survival like and if we do a liver procedure like TACE?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Indranil Ghosh (7 hours later)
Brief Answer:
very difficult to predict

Detailed Answer:
Intelligent guess would be chemo alone around 1 year and tace may add another 6 mo to 1 year if it is predominantly liver limited.

Sorry last query - he gets cold and feverish on some days what can this be ? Is this cancer progressing ? Infection is ruled out?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Indranil Ghosh (11 hours later)
Brief Answer:
may not be cancer progressing

Detailed Answer:
Does not seem to be like that. May be body's reaction to chemo. Infection ruled out I believe.

No specific treatment required for this.
