Brief Answer: Life style change, paracetamol, amlodepine Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX thanks for using HCM. I went through the query and understood your concern. Since your sugar is under control and the BP is 170/80, the concern is for systolic blood pressure and you are already on 3 drugs to monitor BP(telmisartan, chlorthalidone and carvedilol). So for now you can monitor BP with reduction of salt intake and exercises. If this life style modifications does not work then another drug need to be added to monitor BP (like calcium channel blocker. Eg Amlodepine) This will help in monitoring BP. Weight reduction, salt restriction and proper rest will have greater impact in maintaining BP. If head ache continues you can take paracetamol 650 mg and this will help in reducing head ache. IF your BP still increases or remains around 170/80 with head ache you can take one amlodepine to reduce BP and consult doctor for examination once. Carvidelol (Carca 6.25) has kept your pulse rate of 67 as it mainly act by acting at heart in reducing BP. So no need to worry for pulse rate. I hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask if any further queries and I will be glad to answer them. Wish you good health and faster recovery. Regards

I am already taking arbitel am in the night .This reduces bp but if I increase dosage I get swelling in feet . I have already started additional dose of eslo 5 mg .Is there any newer medicine which reduces systolic pressure ? should I add another diuretic

Brief Answer: NO. Dont use another diuretic Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for replying. So you can take amlodepine as and when required. Since you are on eslo 5 mg your BP will be reduced. Additional dose of diuretic can vary electrolyte and hence need to be monitored before you continue it. Beta blocker mainly act in reducing systolic BP and you are already taking it twice daily. We can add another one but any addition of drugs needs to be monitored. So you can discuss with you doctor for adding another drug. Till then you can take amlodepine as required. Hope this information is helpful and answered your query. Reagrds
