Suggest Treatment To Get Rid Of Nasal Congestion

Question: I took 2 sudafed tablets yesterday one at 9am the other at 3pm. Not only has my nasal congestion not eased I am completely unable to sleep and am exhausted. It is now 4.15am. Is there anything I can do to alleviate this and how long will the pseudoephedrine stay in my system?

Brief Answer: Nasal congestion Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the query I understand that you have nasal congestion that has not releived with Sudafed. Here are my suggestions to you 1. The best way to syptomatically get rid of nasal congestion is to put Xylometazoline drops in your nose. It gives instant relief and lasts for about 6 hours. Please do not use to for more than 3 days 2. The alternate drug for sudafed is tab Fexofenadine. I have seen it work well in patients who do not get much relief with Sudafed. 3. I also advice steam inhalations 3 times a day, it releases the clogged sinus drainage system. Pseudoephidrine has a half life of about 16 hours so it takes about 32 hours to completely get out of your system I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me I wish you good health and a speedy recovery Regards
