Suggest Treatment Sores On The Head After Using Methamphetamine

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Mar 2017
Question: I am worried my husband is doing meth. He has sores on his head he denies knowing about but I'm a medical professional and I know that the scabs come from picking at them repeatedly. I can only think that to deny picking at his head and acting like he has no idea where the sores come from and even that he has them at all means not a good sign. He also seems to run fevers daily, forgetting things he would never forget, repeating questions that have been answered several time minutes before- I'm worried about drugs. And now we suddenly can't pay bills we used to be able to.

Brief Answer:
I think we need to go for testing

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

The symptoms you mentioned nowhere indicate that he is abusing drugs. Before making conclusions I think we need to explore other options as it is possible that he is having early onset of dementia. This could be more dangerous than drug abuse and I am of the opinion that an immediate brain scan should be ordered along with drug screen and routine biochemistry parameters.

I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.
