Brief Answer:
replace with a long acting benzo like chlordiazepoxide.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concerns for your husband.

To get rid of this drug, there are two strategies which are usually employed:

1. Replace the drug with a long acting drug like chlordiazepoxide or diazepam in equivalent doses. Then the new drug is gradually tapered down and is easier to withdraw as compared to anxit.

2. Gradually reducing the dose of anxit.

I would prefer the first strategy in case of your husband as he has had seizures earlier.

Kindly consult your psychiatrist and discuss these issues.
His will power needs to be strong at all times of treatment.

Hope this helps.
I wish him good health.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Taking anxit in large numbers is suggestive of addiction.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.

Yes, taking high does of anxit is the type of addiction.
Anxit contains alprazolam which is highly habit forming.

Chlordiazepoxide or diazepam are long-acting benzodiazepine drugs which are useful in treating alprazolam addiction.
The patient is shifted to either of these drugs. Then these are gradually withdrawn.
These are particularly used as their habit-forming tendency is very less. This will also prevent chances of seizures.

In my opinion, either of these drug should be used for your husband for his anxit dependence. This would be safe strategy for him as he has had seizures earlier.

Kindly discuss this with your psychiatrist.

Hope this helps.
feel free to ask further.
