Brief Answer:
AVN Grade 3 requires hip replacement. Less chance of sciatica needs evaluat

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

The pain in the hips is because of the AVN. This can also cause knee pain because of the common nerve supply between the hip and the knee regions.

AVN Grade 3 warrants hip replacement whereas there are other surgeries for AVN Grade 2 early stage.

Sciatica wife present will cause shooting pain from the lower back or the buttock, down the back of your thigh and leg, associated with tingling and numbness sometimes.

It does not appear that you have Sciatica, but since you have weakness of the leg muscles, it is better to get yourself evaluated for slip disc and spondylosis of the lumbosacral spine by your Doctor and am MRI of the lumbosacral spine could help in the diagnosis.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

so the lab test for slip disc and spondylytis of lumbosacral spine is required only for leg muscles only or is it required to confirm for avn as well...
at present i am taking tablet ald3 which includes alfacalcidol and calcium carbonate and tablet allmec which includes methylcobalamine, alpha lipoic acid, folic acid and pyridoxine salt once a day and also one tablet whose name i dont remember but its empty stomach once a week and probably the salt is risedronate. these tablets i am taking for last 6 months.so should i continie these tablets or should i stop due to some possible side effect or should i start some new medicines to delay the decaying of hip ball and the possible hip replacement.

Brief Answer:
Many risks of medication, need to discuss with your Doctor

Detailed Answer:
The MRI Scan is needed to look for slip disc only.

The medication that you are on is acceptable for reducing the progression of AVN of head of the femur.

There can be done side effects like bone pain and possibility of Oesophageal cancer risk, osteonecrosis of the jaw, gastritis, suppression of Bone turnover. It is usually advisable to avoid more than 1 year therapy, though clear standards of care in this regard haven't been established.

It is best to consult with your Doctor regarding these risks and the possible benefits that you are facing in this situation before changing the treatment regime.
