Brief Answer:
PLease consult endocrynologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The water does not stay in the body for no reason. There might be some issue causing the swelling (if that is what you mean by the water retention). In case of heart failure, kidney issues (like kidney inflammation), thyroid issues and many other hormonal problems. Additionally obesity can be also a sign of hormonal problem.
That is why, I suggest you to have some diagnostics before starting any loosing water ways. You should start with blood work, urine analysis, abdominal ultrasound. You should also consult endocrinologist.

For temporal water loose, medicine called Furosmidum can be used. But as it lowers blood pressure, it should be used carefully and under your doctor control.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Hi dr, I currently weigh 118kgs, never had any serious medical problem, consulted endocrinologist some time ago, there was no issue with thyroid, the reason of gaining this much of weight is by taking betnesol, which I have already stopped taking many months ago, most of the weight is visible on my stomach and around it, so my effort is on to lose weight, but just had a concern of the stomach tightening issue, as you have mentioned about the medicine will I get it here in XXXXXXX and does it have serious side effects. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Betnesol is the reason of water retention.

Detailed Answer:
Betnesol is the weight gain reason for sure. And it causes water retention as a very common side effect as well.
Furosemid should be available in XXXXXXX It is very popular medicine. It may cause low blood pressure and low potassium level as a side effect.

As mentioned i've already stopped taking betnesol a year ago, will it still has effect in my body, i stopped it suddenly did not do it slowly, while doing exercise at gym sometimes i feel very low and couldn't give my 100 percent to it, So what should be the problem. and i repeat most of the weight is in my belly and thigh areas, my belly is like its hanging, most weight is concentrated in chest , belly and thigh area, I was doing good in the last 8 months, was not able to do it last month as i was fasting (Ramadan) dint gain much weight but not able to give 100 percent. I want to lose atleast 2 kgs in a month and lose atleast 30 kgs in next 12 to 16 months.

Brief Answer:
Please consult endocrinologist.

Detailed Answer:
As you have been taking steroids, you may suffer from Cushings syndrome. That is why I have asked you to consult endocrinologist. Without it, you may find it very hard to loose weight.
Hanging belly can be caused due to enlarged skin in this area. If so, more you loose, more skin on this area you will have.

I consulted endocrinologist when my weight was 130 kgs and she examined me thoroughly and had thyroid tests, no problem with thyroid and serum cortisol, if you are insisting to do it again then definitely i will consult, if ever i have cushing syndrome what would be the treatment, will i lose weight? i have pink stretch marks on my stomach, nowhere else in the body, no other symptoms.

Brief Answer:
If cortisol was checked, no need to consult endocrinologist right now.

Detailed Answer:
If the Cortisol level was checked, no need to see endocrinologist at this point.
If the Cushing syndrome is caused by steroids intake, the best treatment is to quit taking the steroids.
As you have done it already, you should be able to loose the weight. However it may take some time before you will get back to normal. And it can take much longer than just a year.
So in my opinion, you should continue with diet and physical activity. If this wont give expected result, you should than consider visiting endocrinologist once again.

You should also consult endocrinologist if any of this symptoms will appear: hypertension, diabetes, dark skin, weakness (weak muscles).

Regards.
