Brief Answer:
About Vitamin B12 deficiency;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!

The deficit of Vit B12 causes megaloblastic anemia.
The most common cause of vitamin B12 deficiency is pernicious anemia, an auto-immune condition that is more common in people over 60, in women, in people with a family history of pernicious anemia or some autoimmune conditions, including Addison’s disease and vitiligo.

The second and more common cause is the inappropriate intake of meat, eggs and dairy products,( in a vegan diet).

The third cause is the lack of absorption of Vit B12, in people who suffer from gastritis, ulcers or have done gastrectomy.

The treatment consists of shots depending on the level of Vit B12 and of course correcting the main pathology.

Hope the information will help.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
