Brief Answer:
these are visual hallucinations

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Perception without stimulation is called hallucination. To see the objects without actual existence is visual hallucination.

In general visual hallucinations occur in neurological disorders (dementia or delirium due to any medical condition), drug/substance abuse/toxicity or withdrawal or in psychotic disorder like schizophrenia or severe acute stress reaction.
Nightmares are also related to these conditions as well as can occur normally.

Please revert back to me with more detail history of the patient with details of problem (onset, duration, any medical condition/physical illness, any drug abuse, any medications going on, other symptoms, any stress,).

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Regards,

Dr.Chintan Solanki.
