Question: Hi Dr, My sister has been diagnosed with Chicken pox last Monday, A physician has prescribed a lotion and few medicines. She has got the chicken pox all her body. I t would like to know if we need to get her any injection or medicine which will help her in getting away with this disease. We are a little bit concerned as she is very dull and her appietite has gone down since the time the problem started. We are giving her tender coconut and other cold drinks with chia seeds. Please provide us with your valuable opinion on the same.

Brief Answer:
Self Limiting disease

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.

See, Chicken pox is a self limiting disease and it aggravates initially for a few days like for 5-7 days and the gradually improves.

Treatment is also supportive and doesn't require any special injections.

If the patient comes to us with first 24-48 hours of developing the lesion, we do give ant viral like Acyclovir.

Now at this point of time, giving more of fluids, juices would help her,
To improve her appetite, you may give her an Ayurvedic Liver stimulant like Syrup Stimuliv.

Otherwise, she doesn't need any special medicines.

This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.

Dear Dr, My sister is recovering slowly and the course of medicines have finished. She is been at home since 8 days and wants to know when she'd be able to move out and do the normal work. Should she take the same medicine for few more days since the pox on her hands are still fresh? Please suggest

Brief Answer:
Wait before she goes out

Detailed Answer:
I'm glad to know that she is improving. Since fresh lesions are there I would recommend her to stay at home for next 5 days more.
She doesn't need any medicines.
Just apply any good antibiotic cream like Soframycin over the lesions.
She can take anti allergic like Levocetrizine in case she has itching.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query please ask me.
