Suggest Treatment For Vaginal Injury After Intercourse

Question: Yesterday after having sex, I had a thin split and two small pin size holes on the right side - right outside of my vagina. They were bleeding a little. Today the bleeding has stopped and the long thin one is flat but has white on top-almost looks like a canker sore. It doesn't itch and doesn't really hurt unless I press on it. Also-I noticed the abrasions because my pelvic bone hurt a little and the right side majora labia was swollen too and although the swelling is much better, I have a very dark bruise. I don't know if these two issues are related. And I don't know what it could be

Brief Answer:
Vaginal injury after sex

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear XXXX,
Thanks for using HCM..
I understand your concern..

I would like to know whether you were sexually active or was having sex after a long time? Do you have normal periods? Did you have dryness during intercourse?

In your case from the discription you have given, it sounds like you have a rough intercourse and the swelling and injury is caused by the trauma. If there is no bleeding and only minimal pain in the vagina, you can wait for it to resolve on its own. Usually minor injuries heal by itself. But if there is any vaginal discharge/itching/increasing pain, you need to take treatment and get a vaginal swab and a pap smear.

Swelling in the labia is also due to trauma. In case of pain you an take an analgesic, hot water bath covering the labia or a sitz bath and cold compresses. If pain and swelling increases, then medical attention need to be taken. Usually trauma after sexual intercourse resolve by itself..

In case of dryness, use a lubricant prior to the intercourse, avoid rough sex, foreplay is required to have adequate lubrication naturally.

Hope I have answered your queries. In case of any doubt, feel free to ask questions. Good health..

The sex was not rough. The night before, he did perform oral sex for a while and maybe thats what caused the crack or split? But none of it was rough. I do have regular periods and i had my period when this happened. Not sure if that was a factor. I was reading on the internet that a cut can be herpes. Is that true? There is no itching and it is not a blister. It was a long split yesterday that had a little blood. Today theres no blood its flat and has a white color on top

Brief Answer:
Dont worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..

I think you neednot worry since you dont have any itching or pain or any vaginal discharge. Herpes infection appears within 7 days and not immediately. It is also associated with itching and vaginal discharge. Since you dont have these symptoms,it is unlikely to be herpes and we can wait for spontaneous resolution.

Oral sex doesnot usually cause such tear. Healing wound over the vulva may look white. If the split persists after a week consult your gynaecologist to get a swab test to detect any infection.

Avoid intercourse, wear loose cotton undergarments till the wound heals.

Hope your doubts are clarified. Any doubt pls feel free to ask. If no questions, kindly close the conversation and rate my answer.. Good day..
