Suggest Treatment For Urinary Incontinence And Back Pain

default
Posted on Fri, 2 Dec 2016
Question: About a year or so ago I had a very rough pelvic exam by a new (to me) nurse practioner. She pushed the speculum as far as she could and told me to "push down" as hard as I could. It was very uncomfortable and she did it three times--don't think I could have taken a fourth! She then referred me to a urologist and two subsequent renal ultrasounds did not show anything. HOWEVER, I have been having increasing problems with incontinence ever since, in addition to worse back pain (scoliosis) than I've EVER had before. This dated from that rough exam, and I can't help but make a connection. It seems strange that before this exam--and she did things that I'd NEVER experienced before in all my pelvic exam history--I NEVER had an incontinence problem.

Brief Answer:
Not related to rough examination

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about incontinence.

I don't think incontinence is due to rough pelvic examination. It is mainly due to weaknesses of pelvis, paraurethral tissue, sphincter muscles.

I don't see any reason to blame on the rough pelvic examination. This seems just coincidence.

Planet examined by your urologist to understand the cause and treatment.
