Suggest Treatment For Ureterocele And Kidney Stone

default
Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: I have a complete, bilateral duplicated ureter system. One of the ureters from my left kidney had a ureterocele where it entered my bladder resulting in urinary back up into my kidney and some hydronephrosis and a kidney stone. The ureterocele was removed about a year ago and tests show my kidney drains properly through the 2 ureters now. A CT scan today show no hydronephrosis in the kidney but does show "moderate atrophy with cortical incursion and cortical loss in the left kidney inferior pole"
Should be be concerned about this? The doctor indicates that since everything is draining properly and 24 hour urine tests are normal now this is nothing to worry about.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry as of now

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your query.
You have past history of ureterocele and kidney stone which resulted in back pressure changes in left kidney (hydronephrosis). They are successfully operated and CT scan revealed no hydronephrosis now.
Present finding of Moderate atrophy and cortical loss in left kidney can be due to past condition along with increasing age. This may result in decrease urine output from left kidney, but as your 24 hour urine output and urine tests came out to be normal, there is no need to worry as of now.

But you need to follow up with your nephrologist after 6 months again for the tests to find out if condition is progressing or not.

P.S.- If you are diabetic, you need to control your blood sugar level.

Hope i have answered your query. If you have any questions, i will be happy to help.

Wish you good Health
Regards
