Posted on Wed, 12 Apr 2017
Question: I had upper respiratory tract infection and the medication given caused loose stool and motions. This reaction is a regular feature. I took curd rice to overcome the weakness and motions but this inturn increased my cough. This cycle went on for 2 weeks now and I've overcome my cold and cough but for the loose motions I've been taking probiotics and loperamide 2 mg 2-3 times daily but it's not helping. My food intake is normal without any restriction but bowel movement is loose and problematic with gas formation. The meds for UTRI were prescribed by Dr.
Please suggest a quick remedy for my stomach ailment.

Brief Answer:
Secretory type of diarrhea

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern for your symptoms
1) Do not take Tab. Loperamide more than once a day. It might slow down the intestinal movement.
2) You must continue probiotics.
3) In addition, you can Tab. Racecadotril 100mg twice a day for 2-3 days. This will help to overcome secretory type of diarrhea.
4) If you are also experiencing, abdominal heaviness and discomfort after food intake then it is recommended to reduce fat-content in your diet and take tab. Unienzyme (intestinal digestive enzyme supplementation) to support digestion.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.

Brief Answer:
It is due to content of food not due to temperature.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is not related to temperature of ingested food but this is related to content of food i.e. frozen milk and/or coloring agent in gola. Some person might develop fasten intestinal movement secondary to particular food and this lead to secretory type of diarrhea.
Try to avoid such products for few days when you are on treatment and look for any improvement.
