Suggest Treatment For Ulcers On Tongue

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Jun 2016
Question: I take Adderal for adult ADD. I only take it during the week. By Friday morning, my tongue has horrible ulcers on it on both my right and left side. However, but Sunday night and Monday morning, they are GONE. I took one yesterday, and I do not have one yet...But they show up by Wednesday each week. This has been going on for quite some time, so I know its the RX, just not sure what exactly to do about it and I need the Meds. Any suggestions?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Prescription stimulants can indeed sometimes cause mouth sores. The only way to eliminate this side effect is to switch to a different drug. There are options other than Adderall that may help you, including Vyvanse and Strattera. I would talk to your doctor about switching medications.

So, is your thinking its directly related to the drug in my system for a length of time that is causing the mouth sores? Is there anything I can do from an "over the counter" aspect to counteract them. They only start up around Wednesday of the week, but by Friday, they are terrible.

No, as I said, the only remedy is to switch to a different drug. There are several options including Vyvanse and Strattera. This is the only way to fix this problem.
