Question: Diagonized with lymph nodes tuber tuberculosis. Operation done on 8th XXXXXXX and removed the pus formation. Medication started with Akurit-4, 4.5 tablets a day in the morning after breakfast with an interval of 5-minutes. Also Oflox-400 one tablet each in the morning and evening. This is prescribed for an Woman of 40-years of age weighing 75 KGS. Though have all due respects and confidence on our surgeon, just thought to take second opinion on the number of tablets and mgs being swallowed every day. Will this cause any other repercussions and further diseases? Kindly clarify.

Brief Answer:
I suggest you must continue treatment for about 12 months or more.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HCM.
I understand your concern and situation.

According to me she must take 5 tablets. But taking 4.5 will not make much difference. Sometimes patients are not able to tolerate high doses so 4.5 is also optimum dose. Oflox is a drug reserved for second line. So if my patient I would have not advised it. According to me you must have been given streptomycin intramuscular injection for 2 months with AKT4 then continued on your AKT4 for 1-2 months more. After 3-4 months only three drugs rifampicin 600 mg, isoniazid 300 mg and pyrazinamide 1500 mg for about 12 months. If pus develops then antigravity drainage advised. But now as you have already started treatment I advise not to change it. It will be equally effective and you will be cured. Remember do not skip even a single day medicine as it can lead to dangerous emergence of multidrug resistant strains. Eat protein rich healthy and balanced diet and drink plenty of water. You must take multivitamins supplement especially vitamin B6 regularly.

Hope I answered your query.
