Suggest Treatment For Torn Medial Patellar Retinaculum

Question: Doctor, a girl has medial patellar retinaculum completely torn with surrounding oedema and lateral displacement of patella. Can this be cured without surgery? Please advise.

Hello,
I have treated lots of patient with such complaint. I would recommend you to get it operated as early as possible. If you try to treat it with out surgically, then torn ligament will get retract.
And in that condition it will not be possible for repair it. At that time we have to take graft from other part of leg. It will be more difficult to treat it.
So do not think of delaying surgery. You are young and need a normal functioning knee joint. It is not possible without repair of this ligament.
