Brief Answer:
Follow proper oral hygiene habit!!!

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX First of all thanks for approaching Healthcaremagic for your query.I read through your query and according to symptoms specified I feel nothing to be worried in this case.

Toothache is a common feature in children in this age. It's due to increased intake of sweets(they love sweets) and carelessness in maintaining oral hygiene(they hate brushing).

Parents should be careful in maintaining oral hygiene of children of this age. They should restrict the intake of sweets during meals and should clean the teeth as soon as sweets and milk etc are taken. Health of teeth is important as it is teeth that help in proper growth of the child's jaw bone. Here the toothache can be reduced by taking diclofenac tablet(dose specified by your pedodontist/dentist).

And also I suggest you that if the tooth beneath the gum is damaged please go to your dentist (pedodontist) and get it filled. If the damage is too deep he may do a pulpectomy/pulpotomy treatment(cleaning of the inside of tooth and filling it) and put a cap over the tooth(depends on the tooth involved and also the clinical condition).

To prevent more decay in future please do follow these steps:
1)brush daily morning and night.
2)clean mouth and teeth after anything the child eats
3)try to make child eat sweets and sweetened drinks during the meals time.
4)try to eat more fibrous food(as it cleanses the teeth)

Follow these simple steps and it creates a lots of change in child's oral hygiene. These teeth are impotant as it helps in growth of childs jaw bone.So maintaining proper condition of milk teeth is also important.

Brief Answer:
diclofenac reduces pain temporarily!!

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Thanks for replying.

I read through your query and accordingly I must say that diclofenac which I told is a painkiller relieves pain for few hours only. If the pain is due to infection which I believe is, the cause of the infection has to be treated (in this case the tooth has to be filled and antibiotics have to be taken which treats infection and as a result pain will be gone). So diclofenac will relieves pain temporarly; but doesn't solve problem. Therefore I insist she visits a dentist. Further the dosage depends on child's body surface area (based on her height ,size etc). Hence I will choose not to comment on the dose part.

Hope you are benefitted something from my reply. If you have more queries please be free to approach us. Have a healthy day!!!
