Suggest Treatment For Tinnitus

Question: Hi,

Hope you're well.

I recently had two of my three middle ear bones removed when I had choleastetoma removed. The third bone (the stapes) is in tact and in my ear. So I can confirm that I have conductive hearing loss but not any sensorineural hearing loss.
I have tinnitus in the ear that was operated on (it's a hissing sound that comes and goes).
My question is, if I have Ossiculoplasty surgery to reconstruct the other two hearing bones with a titanium prosthesis what are the percentage chances that it will reduce/get rid of my tinnitus as the hearing will be restored due to the titanium prosthesis.

Please give me an answer to this.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thanks for putting up the query.
Hearing loss after a middle ear surgery and removal of mucus and stakes is conductive type of hearing loss. Tinnitus can be due to any type of hearing loss and more in cases with sensoryneural type.
Reconstruction surgery will definitely improve hearing and decrease tinnitus. The results will the surgery and the present status of nerves.
My advice is you should get a pure tone audiometry done and tinnitus masking done. That will help to diagnose any nerve loss and prospects of upcoming surgery.

Do you have any evidence to show it will decrease tinnitus? If not, how do you know?
