Suggest Treatment For Tinnitus

Question: Hi, I was a question regarding ringing in my ears (tinnitus). Just recently I traveled to XXXXXXX which is a high altitude city (about 5,500 ft above sea level). Ever since I've arrived I've noticed a slight ringing in my ears. I'never noticed this before. I have 2 questions:

1. Can high altitude of this nature cause ringing in the areas?
2. If so, is this ringing permanent? Should I leave my trip early?

I'm concerned that if I stay in XXXXXXX I might make the ringing permanent. I won't be leaving for another 3 weeks otherwise.

Brief Answer:
Yes, High altitude may cause the ringing in trhe ears

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,

I have gone through your query and understand your worry and concern. Yes, ringing in the ears may be due the high altitude because any excessive change in environmental pressure may causes barotrauma leading to ringing. This ringing is not a permanent though. However it is better if you can leave your trip as early as possible and consult an ENT specialist to rule out the other disease.

Hi, just so I understand. If I stay on vacation this could become a permanent issue? If I leave it has a change to resolve?

Brief Answer:
It could not become a permanent issue.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your follow up query and understand your concern and suggest you that it could not become a permanent issue.

I would like to personally suggest that chew the chewing gum because swallowing or yawning opens the eustachian tube and allows air to flow into or out of the middle ear. This helps equalize pressure on either side of the eardrum.

If you leave it on its own, it will become normal within 10 days.
