default
Posted on Thu, 4 May 2017
Question: Since several months I suffer a neck pain on the right side that shoots down my right arm causing a tingling sensation. When I rotate my head I feel the grinding sensation in the neck. It normally is intense when I get up, diminishing during the daily activities. Any ideas of treating/fixing the problem?

Brief Answer:
Slipped disc needs to be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

A slipped intervertebral disc compressing on a spinal nerve is the most likely cause of these symptoms.Compression of the nerve causes tingling sensations and pain in the arm and the upper limbs.

A MRI of the cervical spine needs to be done to confirm the diagnosis.

Using a cervical collar, application of local analgesic gel with hot fomentation, analgesic anti-inflammatory tablets along with pregabalin and methylcobalamin tablets will help.

Avoid using pillow beneath the head while sleeping.

Physiotherapy including cervical traction, short wave diathermy will be beneficial.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any doubts that you may have.

Thank you.
Best wishes.
