Suggest Treatment For Throat Pain And Swallowing Difficulty

Question: Hello, I am a 51 year old female, 5' 4", 186lbs, I started having pain in my throat/primary left side (only half remaining thyroid remains from a surgery in 2015 on the right due to nodules), swelling and pain in my lymph nodes, pain radiates along my jaw line and up to my left ear in the front of my throat. I have itchy eyes/inside corner of each eye, severe constipation, fatigue, unable to lose weight, stinging and burning in my mouth at times. My family dr. and others are unable to diagnose, a CT scan was completed with no apparent swelling / although I can feel swelling and continued pain. Difficulties swallowing at times with feeling of choking and food/saliva not able pass through at times only until after many attempts to swallow. Horrific night sweats and sweating during day, pouring sweats, almost seems I am unable to control my sweating/body heat, when the sweating comes upon me, I feel like I am going crazy in my brain and feel very very anxious. I am so very tired, I am exhausted and at my wits end with this. I am now scheduled for a scope with a ENT doctor, but I fear the same result, nothing wrong with me. Blood tests come back ok for change of life, white blood count and thyroid. I feel what I have is almost next to impossible and unable to diagnose. Need help, not sure if any of you can help with advice, I feel like a hypochondriac which I am not. I am tired, my next request will be a referral to the MAYO Clinic since the dr.'s here are unable to diagnose. I am pouring sweat like a thunderstorm as I sit here and type, I can walk up a flight of stairs, lay down to rest or just sit in my chair and I have these sweat attacks. I also have aching and pain in my thumb joints and unable to twist open a bottle of water, I also have some aching in my hips and right knee. This all has been going on for the last 5 weeks. I was thinking it's my thyroid, but my family dr. said no because the ct scan and blood work are fine. I am so miserable, can any of you folks help me, please give me hope for help!! I cry often because I feel so frustrated with this. Just need a direction and help for some sort of guidance. I am not certain which category of Dr. to choose. Sweaty woman/XXXX

Brief Answer:
Need more evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Your all symptoms are difficult to explain by a single problem. Regarding the throat pain and swallowing difficulty, the ENT exam will be very helpful. If that doesn't show anything, then gastroesophageal reflux is one possibility. Thyroiditis is also another possibility.

Regarding the excess sweating, as thyroid disease has been ruled out on bloodwork, we need to look at other causes like adrenal disorders or diabetes. These can also be ruled out on bloodwork. Anxiety and panic attacks can also be the causative agent.

If still nothing is found, then CT scan of chest and abdomen may be required.

Overall, I strongly feel that the cause will be found soon and appropriate treatment should make you feel much better.

Hope this helps.
Regards
