Brief Answer:
It is most probably a viral pharyngitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

From the few symptoms you have described, it is most probably a viral pharyngitis. I would like to since when they have started. And also if there is any associated fever. Any difficulty swallowing? Also need to examine the throat. Would be helpful if you can post a clinical image of the throat which is clear. That would help me decide if you would need a course of antibiotics or not.
For now some of the measures you should take are, do warm salt water gargling every 4 hours for a period of 5-10 minutes. Also chewing any lozenges which contain mint helps. If it is paining too much take a analgesic like paracetamol twice a day. There is a OTC solution called Tantum which when gargled frequently drastically brings down the pain. You can do tantum gargles thrice to 4 times a day. And also if you have the habit of smoking, please refrain and stop.
Regarding the antibiotics it would warrant a physical examination.
