Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Urethritis

Question: I had sex about three weeks ago (One night stand unfortunately). The female said she was clean (No diseases etc.) I wore a condom for the sex, did not ejaculate, but after I took the condom off there was some rubbing of my penis on her vagina. I have been so worried (I have OCD and Anxiety). I think there is some pain every now and again around my urethra opening but I don't know if my mind is just playing games. There is no discharge and it doesn't really sting when I pee (Although again sometimes my mind makes me think it might). The little skin flap or skin outlining around my urethra opening may have been there all my life but I'm not sure. (See attached photos). Is it anything?

Brief Answer:
Appears to be urethritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HCM.
I understand your concern and situation.

I would suggest you not to worry. In your case there seems no chance of acquiring STD including HIV infection as the intercourse was protected. I must mention that you do not need to take STD & HIV tests. But if you are anxious and OCD and constantly think about diseases and if testing brings you satisfaction then you can get HIV testing done by ELISA test after 3 months. But yes if you have pain in urethra it could be due to friction while intercourse causing slight injury leading to urethritis. I would suggest that you can get urine examination done early morning initial stream sample for three consecutive days and test for microscopy, culture sensitivity for bacterial infections. Drink plenty of water daily up to 7-8 glasses. Stay in follow up.

Hope I answered your query.

Does urethritis go away on its own? Do I need meds? What causes it? I have also been poking and proding that area a lot because ive been worried. If i leave it alone will it just go away?

Brief Answer:
Antibiotics needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Urethritis is mostly due to bacterial infection. I advise you to get antibiotics started based on sensitivity tests of culture. Keep the hygiene of genitals maintained. Do not touch it. Nothing to worry it will cure with antibiotics. It occurs due to handling of genitals with dirty hands, from public toilets and unhygienic conditions.Drink plenty of fluids. Sometimes it may go on its own. But better to take medicines for earlier cure.

Take care
