Question: temporal mandibular pain
Answered by Dr. Neha Sumra 28 minutes later
Brief Answer:
Get an opg, get ice packs or occlusal splints

Detailed Answer:

thanks for writing in.

Temporomandibular joint pain is a common term that can be due to various reasons like muscle spasm, improper occlusion or some injury in that region.

For symptomatic relief, you may go for ice-packs, take soft food and do muscle relaxation exercises.

If problem still persists then consult an oral surgeon and go for OPG(Orthopantomography) to rule out trauma. If there is some problem with occlusion then you may be advised to have occlusion splints. Even botox injections can be given for muscle relaxation after ruling out the etiology.

Hope I answered your query, let me know if you need any further advises.

Wishing you good health

Kind Regards
