Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Depression

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jun 2016
Question: I think I have depression or some other psychological problem, but dont see any reason for it ??

I confide myself in my room for days,5-7 days. First time did it for 2months. Would skip office by giving some excuse. Would switch off my phone so nobody can contact me. Would skip meals, sometimes eating nothing whole day. Just sleeping and watching tv. Have done this 3-4 times

Am I being lazy or do I have some problem?

Brief Answer:
Probably depression.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

Your symptoms suggest that you probably suffer from depression.
Sometimes, there is no obvious reason for depression. This is technically called 'endogenous depression'.

It is however important to note that how's your mood most of the time. Is it sad or irritable? This should be more supporting for diagnosis of depression.

I think you just need some psychological treatment like cognitive behavior therapy. This should help you.

Kindly consult a psychotherapist for the same.

Wish you good health.
Feel free to contact further for more doubts.

Thanks.

I am mostly sad during that time. Most importantly i try to avoid having thoughts. Thts why either i keep watching movies etc or sleeping so that no thought comes to my mind. When i am awake i keep my mind busy in the story of drama or movie I am watching though i know that its not real.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Sorry for late response.

Sad mood with other symptoms fairly suggest that you probably have depression.

As I suggested earlier, you must consult a psychotherapist for psychological treatment.

If needed, antidepressant drugs like escitalopram (prescription drug) can also help.

Hope your query is answered satisfactorily.
You are welcome, if you have more queries in future.
