Question: Hi doctor, i am 20 weeks pregnant. For 2 weeks i have had a swollen tonsil on left side as well as slightly enlarged lymph nodes also on left side. I am having horrible acid reflux (i have a histal hernia) as well as post nasal drip but no other symptoms no fever. I saw my doc and she is unconcerned. Does this sound like it could be harmful to baby? Im particularly worried sbout toxoplasmosis.

Brief Answer:
Not worrisome.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The swollen tonsil with no sore throat or difficulty in swallowing can be due to a mild viral infection of the tonsils. This can also cause enlarged neck glands.
Acid reflux can also cause some soreness in the throat. Such mild symptoms will not harm the baby at all. These symptoms are not likely to be due to toxoplasmosis. You can avoid taking hot and spicy foods and do warm saline gargles at least twice a day and see if it improves.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
