Posted on Fri, 22 Jan 2016
Question: The bottom of my right foot has been slightly swollen for several weeks, and today, after a day of a lot of walking, it is tingling and swollen. I have not had any injuries to my feet. My left foot is normal.

The part of my foot that is swollen is the bottom, "ball" of my foot, right behind the toes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You are reporting to:
- have the bottom of your right foot slightly swollen for several weeks
- after long walking, it is tingling and swollen
- no known history of injuries in your feet.

Possible causes to the swollen foot include:
- muscle/joint sprain
- skin infection
- infected pricking site

You can send a photo of your right foot to analyze the swelling myself. I need to also know if:
- the skin is red/inflammed?
- is there any pus/discharge coming out?
- have you taken long walking recently?
- what type of shoes are you using?

For the moment, I advise to continue with resting and use ibuprofen for the pain. Can apply alternating cold and warm compresses for the swelling.

Wish fast recovery!
