Brief Answer:
Investigations for a proper diagnosis. This may not be genetic problem ...

Detailed Answer:
Hi Madam.
Read and understood your history of developing swelling over the ankles since the age of 14 and now you are 82 with swollen ankles like you explained and big sores. Your history says you have consulted a Doctor/s who say it is in genes and no one could help you. You are practically been living with legs on many pillows and afraid to have stroke.

I would like to ask a few questions which will be self-explanatory, please give me feedback. This can enlighten each other better and who knows we can have a solution and may be a cure.
- Is it possible to send the clear pictures of the ankles and the sores so that I can have a visual impression; this is very vital for me. You may please post as attachment with this query.
- Are the sores infected?
- What is the current treatment you are being given?
-** What are the investigations done till now?
Let me enumerate, and if not yet done, requesting you get them done.
-Blood: CBC, kidney functions, Thyroid functions and other tests
-Ultrasonography with color doppler examination of the lower limbs for venous system
-MRI of the ankles
- FNAC/biopsy of the internal swollen mass if present (this can be a synovial thickening).
- Ultrasonography of the inguinal region and the lower abdomen for lymph nodes.

I hope these are very important to get a proper diagnosis.
If the proper diagnosis would have been done the proper treatment and probable a cure is possible.

Awaiting for your feedback.
With regards.
