Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Gums

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: Hello,
I have what I believe is an abcessed wisdom tooth. My gum is swollen and painful, of course. I won't be able to get into the dentist until saturday. I have cephalexin 500mg and doxycycline 100mg and I was wondering which one would be best for the infection? What else can I do to alleviate the pain until I can be seen?

Brief Answer:
Take antibiotics only after prescription with dentist..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have Inflammation of gum flap over the wisdom tooth and the condition is known as PERICORONITIS..
It occurs due to infection caused due to food accumulation between gum flap and the wisdom tooth..
Although it needs antibiotic therapy but you should take oy after consulting a local dentist..
As of now take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, Naproxen etc..
You should do warm saline gargles..
Do cool compresses over cheek..
You should keep the area clean and gargle after eating anything..
Take soft diet..

Any further questions are welcome..

Regards..
