Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Itchy Eyes After Injury

Question: My 60-year-old brother was stung on his eye lid two days ago. Both eyes swelled and he had intense itching. I purchased Benadryl for him and Advil, which he took yesterday afternoon. The itching went away, but now he also has swelling down in his lower jaw. Why? And what do we do now? He thinks the venom dropped down because of gravity. It was a large wasp that stung him. We live in Florida.

Did anyone get my question?

Brief Answer:
It is perfectly normal in this case for the swelling to spread.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.

Face is a very soft part of the body you would have observed that if somebody is hit on face the whole side can swell up as the soft skin of face gives way to edema fluids. There is nothing to worry about in this matter it will take time (3-4 more days) to regress. Yes he is right the wasp bit him and allergic reaction made that area swell up and now is had spread to cheek this is perfectly normal though.

You have started a perfect treatment, I too advise my such patients advil twice a day and benedryl once at night for 3 days you should also ice the area this will make healing quick and help with the inflammation.

Swelling usually goes to a peak and then regresses itself in 2-3 days of reaching the peak, so there is nothing to worry about, i would suggest you not to panic, just ice the area and this will get back to normal in 3-4 days or so.

I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you.
Regards.
