Question: Hi,

I'm a 49 year old female and in the past have considered myself to be very healthy and active. I very rarely pick up any cold or sniffles etc. I'm of average height and weight and eat a healthy ( no processed food )

In December 2013 I went to my doctors with phlegm in my throat which was causing me discomfort. My doctor informed me this was globus sensation. I continued to experience this feeling which started to interrupt my sleep and also caused discomfort when eating dry foods. In August 2014 I returned to the doctors with this symptom and chronic ear ache. I was issued antibiotics for an ear infection and refereed to and ENT specialist for my throat.

do
In The September I saw my ENT consultant who carried out a nasal endoscopy and confirmed that my throat was inflamed and diagnosed me with acid reflux (GERD) I was prescribed lansoprazole. I started to take this medication as prescribe which provide little relief from my throat discomfort. In November I returned to my doctors with swelling under the left side of my chin which was not painful but did cause minor discomfort and a feeling of heaviness in my face. I also was experiencing numbness, tingling to the left corner of my mouth , ear ache and the same feeling of having a lump in my throat My doctor informed me I had a throat infection and prescribed antibiotics and also referred me for an endoscopy for further investigations.

In December I had an endoscopy completed which confirmed I don't have acid reflux. I returned to my doctors this week with this update and confirmed I was still experiencing the lump in my throat, earache, numbness and tingling in the corner of the left side of my mouth and the swelling under my chin is now noticeable and looks like I have a lopsided double chin. My doctor informed me my earache is caused by arthritis in temporomandibular joint, as it clicks when he examined it and prescribe me mucodyne for the phlegm in my throat
I feel no reassurance from my latest visit to my doctors. My doctor didn't even look in my throat. I don't feel my symptoms are being taken seriously. My concern is that I could have some form of oral cancer, but at no time has any physician I visited inspected the inside of my mouth. I have attempted to inspected my mouth and have noticed very small red pimple under my tongue but nothing noticeable.

Could you please advise if I need to be concerned and if so where you suggest I go now?

Thank you for taking the time to read this long message.

Brief Answer:
Get a FNAC of chin swelling.

Detailed Answer:
Hi...

Welcome to healthcare magic...

I have gone through your question...

I can understand the suffering you are going through... First of all, I recommend a FNAC that is fine needle aspiration of the chin swelling ...so that we will come to know whether it is due to infection or malignancy... Based on that we can proceed to the root cause....

Coming to pimple you mentioned underneath tongue, nothing to worry about that. It could be mucous retention cyst a benign and harmless...
I would like to know the following ..
1) what is the consistency of swelling like hard or firm or soft...
2) any nasal symptoms like congestion or allergy
3) habits like smoking..

Kindly answer the above ...
